|Image Notes||Picture of the excavation site of Fort St. Joseph near Niles, Michigan, as it existed in 2008. The St. Joseph River is on the right. The white pipeline is connected to 14 foot tubes which are used to leech the groundwater from the soil. This process enables the workers to remove the artifacts from the earth. The wooden structures hold trays with screens used to shift the dirt from the artifacts. The picture shows the actual site where workers from Western Michigan University excavate.|
